Łıwegǫatì (Legacy Stanton) Care Expansion and Renovation

The Stanton Territorial Hospital in Yellowknife is the largest hospital in the Northwest Territories. After a new facility was commissioned in 2019, the previous hospital building underwent extensive renovations.

Taking place across a 3-storey, 145,000 square foot building, this modernization project provides additional space for outpatient rehabilitation services, medical clinic, and extended and long-term care, with 74 care beds with on-site nursing care.

The renovation included the construction of 36 exam rooms, four of which are isolation rooms with negative pressure ability. On the upper floors of the building, two temporary stay rooms, activity rooms and kitchens are built to accommodate resident visitors and families.

CANA's scopes of work on this project included extensive interior renovations and modernization, envelope and cladding alterations, a new exterior stairwell, foundation upgrades and slab modifications, addition of an accessible rooftop patio, and extensive front entrance landscaping.
