Mount Royal University: West Wing Athletic

CANA was the construction manager on this major expansion project at Mount Royal University. The expansion to the athletic facilities consisted of the addition of a new gymnasium with three basketball courts and an elevated 200 metre running track, six squash courts, a climbing wall, and new fitness and multi-use areas. The project also included a new space for a wellness centre and a new main entrance to the facility. These modifications required extensive demolition and renovation of the existing locker rooms and office areas.

This project was awarded in spring of 2001 and completed on time for the 2002/2003 academic year. The facility provides Mount Royal University faculty and students the privilege of working out in a world-class facility.

A main feature in the West Wing is the complex concrete circular staircase connecting the upper and lower floors. Other features include intricate tile work and decorative millwork in the office space.
