Built in 1993, the Canmore Nordic Training Centre is a world class facility for nordic skiing and biathlon athletes. Named after Bill Warren (a long time member of the Canadian Olympic Organization), this training centre provides the most modern amenities for the Olympians who use it.
Structurally, the building consists of a cast-in-place basement foundation with combination wood and steel structure with cedar siding and roof shakes. The lower level of this facility consists of a training area with a sauna, weight and fitness room, and treatment area for athletes. A workshop was constructed to maintain the many skis and other pieces of equipment that athletes may have. The upper level consisted of several amenities, including an eye-catching lobby and several offices. A central banquet/meeting room overlooking the mountains hosts several events like weddings and other gatherings each year, and a full-service kitchen area was constructed to provide catering for such events.
Noteworthy is the special attention given to the surroundings of this facility during construction. Tree removal was kept to a minimum; in some cases, trees were literally tied up to prevent them from falling into the excavation site. The building successfully compliments its surroundings thanks to careful design.
We are best known for our unique and one-of-a-kind projects, but these projects are just some of many institutional, commercial, industrial, residential and infrastructure work that we complete.
