Alberta Children's Hospital: Renovations and Expansion

This series of exciting renovation projects commenced in 1990 with CANA on board as the general contractor. Several issues had to be considered, the primary one being the need to keep disruptions to a minimum, which is a proven area of excellence for CANA.

Renovations included developing a new front entry and lobby with office space on the second floor. Several new patient care rooms and recovery rooms were constructed, as well as a speech therapy area. This required new service installations and integration with the original facility. To connect the addition to the existing building, several heavy pre-cast panels had to be removed.

Other work included upgrades to the mechanical and electrical systems, relocating a diesel storage tank, renovating a shelled space to accommodate a new MRI and laboratory facility, and several other interior renovations.
