The refurbishment project included:

  • Demolition of the existing terminal station at 10th Street
  • Construction of a new two-platform inbound and outbound station one block west
  • Extension of the track and power systems west across 11th Street, connecting with the new West LRT leg
  • Complete renewal of the existing LRT infrastructure and streetscape in the three blocks
  • Upgrades to the LRT infrastructure north along 9th Street to 4th Avenue

CANA completed this project in the busy downtown core without disrupting train schedules or causing unscheduled shutdowns to the transit lines.

Phase II began in October of 2010 and was completed in late 2012 to coincide with the completion of the West LRT.
