Foothills Medical Centre Elevator Upgrade

March 19, 2020

Improving efficiency.

The main building elevator upgrade at Foothills Medical Centre was a very high profile project, which replaced a total of 11 elevator car interiors, mechanics and machines. The service elevators were also upgraded to Destination Dispatch systems. This was one of the first times this software was used in Canada and the first in any hospital. A user swipes their card, selects their desired floor, and is prompted to wait at a particular car. The user is then transported to the floor uninterrupted, which has dramatically improved efficiency and reduced wasted time during transport.

CANA completed work a phased approach with no more than a single elevator out of service at a time to reduce service interruptions.
